Valerio Brignoli was born in Bergamo in 1933, he studied at the Italian Institute of Graphic Arts, but he was always interested in mechanics and was often prone to disassemble the devices around him to understand them. In the 50s he was a mechanic in the MotoGP championship for the Ubbiali team.

Later he worked at Niagara, a small company in the field of machines for the production of fruit and vegetable packaging in Bergamo, but after noticing the amount of machines sold in Modena and after visiting the after visiting the area and understanding its agricultural potential, he decided to move to Emilia Romagna. In a short time he finds a lender named Marini and becomes an employee of the co-founded company SIMCA (Italian Company Automatic Stitching Machines), based in Fossalta (MO).

Valerio designed the machines from scratch and excelled in freehand technical drawing. due to the missed payment of some sales commissions, he decided to separate himself from SIMCA and founded his first individual company in 1960.

Thanks to his experience as a technician, he was immediately offered a job as Corali representative for Emilia and he accepted as long as his brother Sergio was hired as a sales representative for Romagna. Everything works out very well for him and he keeps building experience and knowledge up in Emilia Romagna, reaching every single wooden crate building shop in the area. His customer care and his desire to help to increase customer’s production, however, lead him to sell in areas of influence of other Corali representatives in South Italy. For this reason his colleagues indicate a meeting and force Corali to end the relationship with Valerio, despite the mutual admiration for work skills. Thus in 1985, Brignoli returned the representation mandate and declared his intentions to become a competitor.

From this moment on, Valerio takes care of building spare parts and modifying the machines built by others, following the improvements that his experience allows him to continuously make. Thus it provides assistance to wooden crate producers across Italy and beyond. In the meantime the two sons Valter and Sergio became familiar with the business, specializing respectively in the commercial and technical fields. The continuous dedication to work and the inclination towards the development of new solutions for the problems experienced by customers (accompanied by a solid basic financial planning) has led him to have a higher capacity also in the field of spare parts, mechanics and heat treatments.

FOUNDING THE

COMPANY

BRIGNOLI

TODAY

In the years following 2000, however, the packaging market experienced a major change of direction. In fact, thanks to a very rapid development of the plastic industry, the entire market has suffered an impressive decline. To demonstrate this phenomenon it is significant to note that when Valerio Brignoli arrived, the province of Modena boasted more than 200 active wooden crate producers, while a few months ago, the last remaining wooden crate producing company was officially bankrupt.

Nevertheless, the market is far from dead, in fact, Eastern Europe has increased its demand for machinery exponentially, offering Valerio Brignoli SRL the opportunity to expand year after year under the guidance of Valter and Sergio. During 2016 the company also offered work to the third generation of Brignoli’s, taking on Edoardo (son of Valter) and Sofia (daughter of Sergio).
